A lifelong Detroiter whose jazz-inflected quilts break out of the rectangle.
This artist's work is shown through the museum and artist links on this page while it remains under copyright or awaits a permission-cleared image.
Harris was born in Detroit and learned embroidery from her mother at six. She earned a BFA at Wayne State and worked for more than 30 years in commercial design, founding Interior Planning and Design.
Her improvisational fabric work often moves into three dimensions, with rhythms she connects to jazz. She received a Kresge Arts Fellowship in 2015.
