Corrado Parducci
If you have looked up at a great Detroit building, you have probably seen his work.
This artist's work is shown through the museum and artist links on this page while it remains under copyright or awaits a permission-cleared image.
Parducci was born in Buti, Italy, and immigrated to New York in 1904. Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney sponsored his art education, and he apprenticed with the architectural sculptor Ulysses Ricci in 1917.
He came to Detroit in 1924 to work for Albert Kahn, expecting to stay a few months. The automotive boom kept him there for the rest of his career.
His work adorned about 600 buildings, and it appears in most major Michigan cities. He is best remembered for pioneering what's called Greco Deco.
