Myron G. Barlow
An Ionia native who split his life between Detroit and France, and left murals in a Detroit temple.

Barlow was born in Ionia, trained at the Detroit Museum School under Joseph Gies, and sketched for the Detroit Free Press before leaving for Europe in 1893. He studied in Paris with Jean-Léon Gérôme and worked in the art colony at Étaples, France, where he died. He himself often gave his birth year as 1873.
He kept returning to Detroit and was president of the Scarab Club around 1918. His four murals for Temple Beth El, dedicated in 1925, survive at what is now the Bethel Community Transformation Center. His Apples won a gold medal at the 1915 Panama-Pacific Exposition.
