Dabls is a visual storyteller and muralist. He founded and curates the MBAD African Bead Museum, transforming two Detroit blocks he once called "a complete dumping ground."
The campus includes a sculpture garden with 18 outdoor installations, the N'Kisi House and a 150-foot African Language Wall. He was named Kresge Eminent Artist in 2022.
