This artist's work is shown through the museum and artist links on this page while it remains under copyright or awaits a permission-cleared image.

Takaezu was born in Pepeekeo, Hawaii. She studied at Cranbrook from 1951 to 1954, working with William McVey and Marianne Strengell and becoming Maija Grotell's assistant in 1953.

She became known for closed, rounded forms with a clay rattle inside, along with tall vertical forms and moon pots. She later taught at Princeton for 25 years. Her work is held by the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
